== History == The ASER was initially started in 1898 by some of the early United States settlers as the Ashwood Transport Company. The original line ran from Ashwood to the Pine River to transport goods to Ashwood. Nothing of the line other than the part in Ashwood remains to this day, being abandoned and ripped out in 1920. === East Line === In 1916, work had begun on two new lines, one heading east out of Ashwood and one heading south. The East Line was completed in 1923, after several construction problems in the Sierra Vista mountains and Silver Ridge mountain range. The line was built to the brand new settlement of Quincy, which would later grow to be one of the biggest cities in New Territories. The line would be extended east out of Quincy to the towns of Marion, San Rafael and Fargo. === South Line === Almost immediately after work had begun on the East Line, work on the South Line had also begun. The line was initially completed in 1919, connecting Ashwood to what would become Ashwood's military base, later on Ashwood's Airport and the future CoalPort. The line later was expanded in the late 20's all the way down to what's now known as Edison. After this line was completed, the company was renamed to Ashwood & Southeastern. === Line Name History === {| class="wikitable" |+ !Line !Original Line Name !Line Name 1950's !Line Name Post 2012 !Line Status !Notes |- |Ashwood-Pine River |Ashwood Transport Company |N/A |N/A |Abandoned |Parts in Ashwood are still in use by PIBR and ASER. |- |Ashwood-Lakeside |East Line |East District |Sierra Subdivision |Active |Parts in Ashwood owned by PIBR. |- |Lakeside-Quincy |East Line |East District |Silver Ridge Subdivision |Active | |- |Quincy-Garrison |East Line |East District |Quincy Terminal Subdivision |Active | |- |Quincy-Marion/Fargo |East Line |East District |Marion Subdivision |Active |Renamed in 1988 to Marion District. |- |Lakeside-Evergreen/Mountfield |Evergreen Branch |Evergreen District |Evergreen Subdivision |Active | |- |Ashwood-Newark |South Line |South District |Ashwood Terminal Subdivision |Active |Ashwood parts owned by PIBR. |- |Newark-CoalPort |South Line |South District |CoalPort Subdivision |Active | |- |CoalPort-Edison |South Line |South District |Edison Subdivision |Active | |- |CoalPort-Birdwell |Birdwell Line |Birdwell District |Birdwell Branch |Mostly Abandoned |Part of the line is still in use in Birdwell as a branch line and now connects to the PIBR Ashwood Terminal District. |}
