== History ==

=== Planning & Construction (2012-2017) ===
In the early 2010's, a group of people in the amusement industry began to work on a concept for a new amusement park in New Territories. The country had lacked any amusement or theme parks. Opening one would be big for the country. The plan was shown to Six Flags, which agreed to take on the project. The company looked in the four major parts of the country; Ashwood, Bridgewater/Red Mesa, Quincy and Sterry. Ashwood was ultimately decided. The plot of land chosen for the site was previously used for a junk yard. In 2015, the lot was cleared out and replaced with a grassy foundation. In early 2016, actual work on the park began. The park would open to the public on May 20th, 2017 with six rides; all but one were relocated from other parks.

=== Expansions (2017-Present) ===
The park performed very well within its first year. The main complaints were a lack of things to do in the park. In 2018, Six Flags opened FearFall Tower, an Intamin freefall drop tower that was relocated from Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom. Only the tower itself was reused as all the cars, cable and track were replaced due to the ride being involved in a major accident in 2007. The park did not open for the 2020 or most of the 2021 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In September 2021, the park reopened under reduced capacity. In 2022, the park fully reopened. A new dark ride, Mysterious Mansion, would open in June of that year. In 2023, the Boomerang coaster was temporarily removed to make way for Sidewinder, an old and refurbished Arrow Launched Loop that was relocated from Six Flags America. A new main street would also open with new shops and restaurants. In 2024, the park opened Twister, an older style classic wooden roller coaster. This year, Six Flags debuted their Fright Fest Halloween event at the park. A new event was also debuted; Six Flags Ashwood Holiday Fest. This was a similar event to Holiday In The Park, seen at other Six Flags parks. Alongside Holiday Fest, a new railroad attraction opened; Six Flags Express. The south station was opened as the north station was still under construction and in an area that was seeing other work being done. The north station opened the following year. In 2025, Boomerang was reinstalled and reopened. The main entrance was also rebuilt in 2025, beginning in March and would be complete by June.

=== Mega Expansion (2026) ===
On July 26th, 2025, Six Flags announced that the park would be getting three brand new rides, a new food court, and some things coming over from other parks, such as THE FLASH Pass and Holiday In The Park, which would replaced Rapid Ride and Holiday Fest respectively. Mind Eraser and FearFall Tower were announced to be moving to different parts of the park to make room for certain attractions. Half Pipe was also announced to be closing permanently, making it to be the first ride in Six Flags Ashwood to be removed from the park completely. Six Flags did say that it would see a new life at Six Flags Great Lake, a planned park for Quincy in New Territories. The first new ride that was announced, Runaway Mine Train, would open for the 2026 season, being an underground launch coaster with theming and several inversions that take place in the dark.

It originally opened in 2000 at EG Minecraftia. The ride closed with the park in 2016 and was relocated to Six Flags Ashwood and reopened with the new park on May 20th, 2017. Upon opening, the trains were replaced with new trains with vest restraints. In the 2022/23 offseason, all the track was replaced with new track from Vekoma. The ride reopened in June of 2023.

Indigenous tribes were scattered throughout New Territories for millennia having arrived via the Bering Land Bridge. This included a branch of the Apache tribe and the DeHatten Tribe. Today, both tribes can largely be found throughout the undeveloped parts of the country though are rapidly being exterminated by the New Territories Indian Removal Authority in many regions. An Indian Reservation has been established in the southeastern portion of the country for some Apache villages served by the [[Bridgewater, Iron, and Red Mesa Railroad]].

=== United States Colonization ===
The United States arrived in New Territories in 1873 when General Ulysses B. Grant ordered a military expedition into the country. The DeHatten Tribe fiercely attacked the unsuspecting soldiers, many of who died. The expedition retreated until more troops arrived, at which point they captured the leader of the Dehatten Tribe, known locally as Hat. The colony of Pine Island was established just offshore from the North Slope Region of the country as a fort. This fort would later be dismantled. The colony of Ashwood was also established in the more temperate west-central region of the country.

As the colony became more populated, some levels of self-governance were allowed. An acting chancellor was elected; Samuel Wendover was the first. The country was largely free to pass local laws of its own, but US law superseded in many cases.

=== The Cold War ===
The Cold War brought large US Military presence to New Territories due to its relative proximity to Russia. Before the war, New Territories and Russia exhibited a fairly friendly relationship, with some Russian citizens moving there. They were, however, forced out by the US Military, beginning a rapid degradation of the relationship between New Territories and the Mainland US. A large military base was established on the south end of Ashwood, though this has largely been dismantled and turned into an expand Ashwood Airport and the New Territories CoalPort.

During the Cold War, the United States decided to repeal some of New Territories' laws. The age of majority had been uniquely set at 16 (though high-school education was still compulsory), as well as a drinking age of 18 and voting age of 16. The US tried to raise these ages to 18, 19, and 21 respectively, meaning several thousand adults were suddenly legal minors. The US also enacted a series of sodomy laws and a ban on interracial marriage in 1964, neither of which New Territories had not established.

These sudden changes to New Territories society outraged the public. Chancellor Daisy "Maynard" Lemieux never publicly spoke out against the laws in order to not further degrade US relations. She did condemn it in private, however, and began planning a rebellion against the United States along with many other government and non-government citizens.

On August 26th, 1965, Daisy and others arranged for seven railroad hopper cars to be filled with ammonium nitrate with a time bomb planted in one of them. These cars were mixed into an Ashwood Southeastern Railroad train which would deliver general freight to the US Military Base from the rail barge docks at Pine Island. At 16:46:23 on August 27th, 1965, the bomb exploded on the docks of the base, exploding all seven hoppers. The hoppers were strategically parked next to a silo also full of ammonium nitrate, which also exploded. The entire military base was obliterated, and thousands of soldiers were killed instantly while many others were wounded.

Once an investigation revealed the incident to be an attack, the few surviving military forces on the island were dispatched to capture the NT government offices. All government officials had fled into a secret wilderness camp, while many people began sniping US soldiers from behind trees or from atop buildings. 343 other soldiers were killed during the rebellion, while over 200 New Territories citizens were also killed. Other attacks with explosives had crippled the military communication network, meaning a response was incredibly disorganized. Tanks were blown up with Molotov Cocktails and DIY land mines were placed on streets covered by fake manholes. Street signs were all removed so soldiers could not find their way around.

Before long, the USSR caught wind of the mistreatment of New Territories and threatened to push the nuclear button if the US did not cease operations there. Under duress from the Soviets and tired of loosing men and equipment in New Territories, the US began brokering an independence deal with New Territories which took effect January 1st, 1966. Daisy Lemieux was hailed a hero of New Territories and continued to serve as chancellor for a second term until 1972. She is forever immortalized today and the day of her passing, July 14th, 2018, was marked by great mourning.

The '''Ashwood Southeastern Railroad''' (reporting mark ASER) is a major railroad in New Territories. They are estimated to be the second largest railroad in terms of mileage, just behind the [[Pine Island & Bridgewater Railway]].

== History ==
The ASER was initially started in 1898 by some of the early United States settlers as the Ashwood Transport Company. The original line ran from Ashwood to the Pine River to transport goods to Ashwood. Nothing of the line other than the part in Ashwood remains to this day, being abandoned and ripped out in 1920.

=== East Line ===
In 1916, work had begun on two new lines, one heading east out of Ashwood and one heading south. The east line was completed in 1923, after several construction problems in the Sierra Vista mountains and Silver Ridge mountain range. The line was built to the brand new settlement of Quincy, which would later grow to be one of the biggest cities in New Territories. The line is still in active use today as the Sierra and Silver Ridge Subdivisions.

An Indian Reservation has been established in the southeastern portion of the country for some Apache villages served by the [[Bridgewater, Iron, and Red Mesa Railroad]].

The United States arrived in New Territories in 1873 when General Ulysses B. Grant ordered a military expedition into the country. The DeHatten Tribe fiercely attacked the unsuspecting soldiers, many of who died. The expedition retreated until more troops arrived, at which point they captured the leader of the Dehatten Tribe, known locally as Hat. The colony of Pine Island was established just offshore from the North Slope Region of the country as a fort. This fort would later be dismantled. The colony of Ashwood was also established in the more temperate west-central region of the country.

As the colony became more populated, some levels of self-governance were allowed. An acting chancellor was elected; Samuel Wendover was the first. The country was largely free to pass local laws of its own, but US law superseded in many cases.
